Marisa’s career has been defined by her dedication to artist advocacy and the strategic use of direct-to-fan channels to build lasting communities. In her most recent role as the Music Partnerships and Operations Lead at TikTok, she collaborated with record labels, distributors, and artists to create campaigns that genuinely connected artists with the expansive TikTok community. Marisa worked with the industry’s most promising talent to support their growth and helped established artists understand the unique dynamics of the TikTok platform.
Marisa’s 18+ year career is firmly rooted in her passion for discovery, which began as a marketing representative for Sony Music during her college years in Sacramento. While promoting emerging bands and their concerts, she also co-led a radio promotions team within the Entercom (now Audacy) network.
After securing a full-time role at Sony Music Entertainment in New York, Marisa brought music into non-traditional venues such as coffee shops, bookstores, and supermarkets. She later partnered with key players in the gaming industry, including Microsoft's Xbox and Sony PlayStation, to introduce new audiences to iconic artists and albums, celebrating important milestones and anniversaries. Marisa’s ambition and commitment to realizing artists’ goals enabled her to create innovative and unexpected campaigns with each project.
With a strong foundation at Sony Music, Marisa embraced a new opportunity in 2015 with Berlin-based SoundCloud, where she built the label partnerships team. Her major label experience was invaluable as the artist-first platform prepared to launch a subscription service set to disrupt the market. Highlights from this period include the discovery of emerging artists and the use of SoundCloud as a social tool for artists and labels to test tracks, interact with fans, and foster deeper connections within the music community.
Today, Marisa brings that same drive to every opportunity and partnership she engages in. Her goal is to support artists at every stage of their careers, helping them connect with their fans in innovative and inspiring ways.
